Skincare Empties: What’s in my May Beauty Trash?
Hi there, with the month of May about to end, I decided to take you through the skincare products I finished up this month. This post on these skincare empties will include a brief review and whether or not I plan to repurchase.
Let’s get started!
May Skincare Empties: Cleansers
THE INKEY LIST OIL AND WATER DOUBLE CLEANSER
Price: £9.99 or N4,778.32 for 150ml
According to The Inkey List this product which is a two in one daily cleanser helps remove dirt and makeup and aims to cleanse and hydrate the skin. So let’s tackle these claims, it does actually breakdown makeup and dirt really well, as to the hydrating I guess it does, I just didn’t notice any thing different especially because my routine is populated by hydrating products. To use apply with a cotton pad and wipe gently across your skin or if you’re like me you can use your fingers (they have to be clean though) to really breakdown the dirt. Because of the oil, however, you’d have to rinse with water or use your foaming cleansers after use.
Would I Repurchase? Yes. It does what it claims and is good value for money.
May Skincare Empties: Moisturizer
L’ORÉAL PARIS HYDRA GENIUS LIQUID CARE MOISTURIZER
Price: £9.99 or N4,778.32 for 70ml
The influx of gel moisturizers into the skincare community is one I’m here for. Gel moisturizers are lightweight yet pack a punch when hydrating the skin. This product cares for different skin types, the one I purchased is targeted towards combination skin (so you can purchase the one best suited to you). It claims to lock in moisture for up to 72 hours, leaving the skin feeling fresher, softer and more supple. It’s designed to deeply nourish the skin without over loading it and contains aloe water and hyaluronic acid. I agree with almost all of the claims, I cannot speak to the 72 hour claim but my skin did feel super supple after use. I preferred to use it in my morning routine but you can use it at night too.
The L’Oréal Hydra Genius is one of my favorite moisturizers and the Aloe Vera component just adds another level of moisture as Aloe helps maintain skin water reserves.
Would I repurchase? Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed using this product.
May Skincare Empties: Serums
THE ORDINARY NIACINAMIDE 10% +ZINC 1%
Price £5.00 or N2,391.55 for 30ml
Niacinamide is the skincare ingredient on everyone’s lip sort of like how Hyaluronic Acid was at some point and rightly so because this ingredient is working overtime, from boosting hydration to fading hyperpigmentation and has soothing properties that help with inflammation in moderate acne. When paired with Zinc, serious power couple vibes. The Ordinary is one of the most affordable skincare brands and even though some of their products are controversial, I really enjoyed using this one. It’s potent and easily absorbed.
Would I repurchase? Yes, if only it isn’t always sold out.
THE ORDINARY ALPHA ARBUTIN 2% + HA
Price : £7.00 or N3,348.17 for 30ml
This ingredient is often paired with other skin brighteners like Kojic acid or Niacinamide which is why I purchased it. I’m working to fade out acne post inflammatory spots and so I needed as much help as I could get. It’s important to note that when you’re trying to brighten your skin, sunscreen is the most important part of your routine. I really liked this product, I used it as part of my night time routine and I do realize that it takes weeks even months to kick in so patience and consistency are required.
Would I repurchase? Uh yeah! I need to continue this so that all my progress isn’t lost, remember consistency is important.
Conclusion: May Beauty Trash
So there you have it a breakdown of all the products I finished in the month of May. It’s a little tough to restock especially due to Covid-19 but I’ll try to. Do you see any of your favorites, let me know in the comments.
NOTE: All the products mentioned here were purchased from ASOS.

Skincare Makes me so happy!!! I love the ordinary’s niacinamide + Zinc serum and I am so big on hydration and moisture right now (and forever, maybe)
I really can’t wait to restock after Rona settles properly.
I feel the same way! I’m running out on all my skincare.
