Harmattan Skin Care Regimen (and a bit of hair care).
Hello, hello, hello!
It’s harmattan season and maintaining great skin is of utmost importance, no one wants dry skin. So I’m sharing with what I use and do, to maintain healthy skin.
First of, moisturizer. A lot of people underestimate the importance of a good moisturizer. I use the Avon Moisture Therapy (intensive healing and repair). I have been using this moisturizer for a couple of years now and it is the best thing that has ever happened to my skin, it literally feels like my skin is drinking water.
Moisturizing is even more important during harmattan because the weather makes our skin drier than it usually would be. So feed your skin with moisture and keep it supple and smooth during harmattan.
Next is a coffee body scrub from a Nigerian brand. Mayanga 4th and Base, I got this scrub in a goody bag from The Blogger Point’s blogger brunch in Abuja and its so good, it smells amazing and makes my skin feel silky smooth
The next two items are from a holistic skin care brand called Obey your Body. First one is a skin peel, that I use on my face, It removes dead skin cells and dirt from your skin and tone your skin at the same time. However I can only use it in an interval of five days for my skin to rejuvenate itself.
Next is a salt scrub with salt from the dead sea which leaves my skin feeling moisturized .
These two products are new in my skin care regimen, but I’m falling in love with them.
Next is my all time favorite mask for oily skin and acne. Its the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. Its so soothing. I wear this mask every time I take bath, just makes me feel luxurious.
Finally, its the talk of the beauty society and no it’s not overrated. Its Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. This is the best cleansing and toning water.
So that’s my skin care/ beauty regimen. The post title did say a bit of hair care, so here goes. A couple of weeks ago someone asked how I keep my natural hair during harmattan and by no means am I a hair care specialist but here’s what I do.
Wash twice a month and deep conditioning on the second wash.
Sleep with a bonnet or use a satin scarf to sleep or even a durag always, especially during harmattan.
Protective styles always help. I mean actual protective styles not the ones that pull at your edges. My go to protective ‘style’ which isn’t a ‘style’ is a wig. Wigs protect your hair without putting too much strain on my edges.
There it is , some skin care and a little bit of hair care.
